Changüi Majadero celebrated the release of its first and self-titled album on Friday, Sep. 16, 2016, at The Grand Annex in San Pedro, CA. It was a lovely night of good music in which, between other things, band leader Gabriel García had a chance to share his extensive knowledge of the traditional Cuban sound called Changüi, and Norrell Thompson to show that she really has amazing singing chops. Marking the milestone with the band were a few other musicians, including Carlo Lopez, who had a part in producing the CD, and the percussionist for Ricardo Lemvo’s Makina Loca – Sandie Castañeda.
The album is available for purchase on CDBaby. You can learn more about the band on their website. Enjoy the pictures and the short videos of the evening below.
